Josh Hader (born April 7, 1994) is a dominant American baseball pitcher currently playing for the Houston Astros, having previously starred for the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres. A six-time All-Star and three-time National League Reliever of the Year, Hader was originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2012, then traded to the Astros in 2013, before landing with the Brewers in 2015 as part of a deal for Carlos Gómez and Mike Fiers. He made his MLB debut in 2017, and in 2021, he became the fastest pitcher in major league history to reach 400 strikeouts. After being traded to the Padres in 2022, he signed with the Astros in 2024, where he continues his elite career. Hader's journey began at Old Mill High School in Maryland, where he posted a remarkable 0.30 ERA as a senior, and he quickly rose through the minors, earning California League Pitcher of the Year honors in 2014. Today, he is recognized as one of the most electrifying relievers in baseball history.
