Prince Fielder (born May 9, 1984) was a powerfully built MLB first baseman and designated hitter who starred for the Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers, and Texas Rangers, earning six All-Star selections. Drafted by the Brewers in 2002 out of a Florida high school, he became the youngest National League player to hit 50 home runs in a season and set franchise records for homers and RBIs. Fielder also made history by winning the Home Run Derby twice (2009 and 2012), becoming the first player to win it as both an American and National League All-Star. His career was cut short by a second neck surgery in 2016, but he retired with 319 home runs—exactly matching his father, Cecil Fielder—and 1,028 RBIs, surpassing his dad's total. Remarkably, the Fielders remain the only father-son duo in MLB history to each hit 50 home runs in a single season. As a 12-year-old, the left-handed slugger (converted by his father) once famously homered into the upper deck of Tiger Stadium off coach Terry Francona, hinting at the power that would define his career.
