Michael Norvell (born October 11, 1981) is an American college football coach who has led Florida State University (FSU) as head coach since the 2020 season. Before FSU, he helmed the Memphis Tigers, being hired in December 2015 at age 34 as the youngest FBS head coach in the nation, bringing his explosive, up-tempo spread offense with him. As a player, Norvell was a standout wide receiver at the University of Central Arkansas from 2001 to 2005, where he set the school's all-time record with 213 receptions for 2,611 yards and 15 touchdowns. In his debut 2016 season at Memphis, he posted an 8-5 record, highlighted by a staggering 77-3 victory over Bowling Green, while quarterback Riley Ferguson set a single-season school record with 32 touchdown passes. The campaign ended with a loss to Western Kentucky in the 2016 Boca Raton Bowl, but his rapid success there paved the way for his eventual move to Florida State.
