Jarren Duran (born September 5, 1996) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Boston Red Sox, making his MLB debut in 2021 after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2018 draft out of Cal State Long Beach. In his rookie season, he had a memorable debut against the New York Yankees, collecting his first major-league hit off Gerrit Cole, but overall struggled at the plate, batting just .215 with 2 home runs in 33 games, leading to several trips back to the minor leagues. His 2022 season was notably rocky, including being placed on the restricted list for refusing a COVID-19 vaccination before a road trip to Toronto and a fielding mishap in center field that allowed an inside-the-park grand slam. Despite these early challenges, Duran's career reached a high point in 2024 when he was named the MVP of the MLB All-Star Game in front of his home crowd. A left-handed batter who throws right-handed, he stands at 6 feet 0 inches and 205 pounds, and he represents Mexico at the international level, having also played collegiate summer ball in the Cape Cod League.
