Clover was an American country rock band formed in Mill Valley, California, active from 1967 to 1978, blending Bay Area psychedelia with a sound similar to Creedence Clearwater Revival. Though they never achieved commercial success themselves, they are best remembered for backing Elvis Costello on his iconic 1977 debut album My Aim Is True, with members uncredited for contractual reasons. The band released several albums like Clover (1970) and Unavailable (1977), and toured with major acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and Thin Lizzy. After disbanding in 1978, members found fame elsewhere: Huey Lewis and Sean Hopper formed Huey Lewis and the News, John McFee joined the Doobie Brothers, and Alex Call co-wrote the hit "867-5309/Jenny" for Tommy Tutone. The band reunited for a 2007 Elvis Costello concert in San Francisco and released a new album, Homestead Redemption, in 2018, while founding bassist John Ciambotti passed away in 2010.
