Nintendo Direct

Nintendo Direct is a series of online presentations that debuted on October 21, 2011, in Japan and North America, later expanding globally to showcase upcoming games and consoles. Originally hosted by the late president Satoru Iwata, the main broadcasts have since been led by executives Yoshiaki Koizumi and Shinya Takahashi, who have alternated or shared hosting duties since 2017. These shows are localized for international audiences, typically featuring Japanese audio dubbed or subtitled into other languages, though Reggie Fils-Aimé notably hosted E3 Directs for North America until his departure in 2019. Beyond the main events, Nintendo has produced region-specific "Indie World" presentations since 2017, while game designer Masahiro Sakurai often hosts Directs focused on Super Smash Bros. and Kirby titles. The format continues to evolve, with Takahashi serving as the sole host from September 2023 to March 2025, before Koizumi returned to the main stage in September 2025.
