Josh Beckett (born May 15, 1980) was a dominant American MLB pitcher who played for the Florida Marlins, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers, earning three All-Star selections. A top high school prospect nicknamed "Kid Heat," he was drafted second overall by the Marlins in 1999, after the Tampa Bay Devil Rays passed on him due to concerns about his confidence. He became a postseason legend, winning the 2003 World Series MVP with the Marlins and the 2007 World Series with the Red Sox, where he also took home the ALCS MVP award. After being traded to the Red Sox in 2006 and the Dodgers in 2012, he battled injuries but achieved a historic milestone on May 25, 2014, pitching a no-hitter against the Philadelphia Phillies—the 19th in Dodgers history.
