Cruz Azul is a Mexican professional football club based in Mexico City, founded in 1927 in Jasso, Hidalgo, by workers of the La Cruz Azul cement cooperative, and it has never been relegated from the top flight. The club relocated to Mexico City in 1971 and underwent name changes in 2012 and 2022, now competing in Liga MX at Estadio Azteca. Domestically, it has won ten league titles, four Copa MX, and four Campeón de Campeones, while internationally it holds the joint-record for most CONCACAF Champions Cup titles (seven) and was the first CONCACAF team to reach the Copa Libertadores final. In the 1968-69 season, Cruz Azul achieved a continental treble (league, cup, and CONCACAF title), becoming the first CONCACAF club and third worldwide to do so, and later the first club ever to win the continental treble twice. In 2026, it was ranked 71st best club in the world by IFFHS, the highest in CONCACAF, and it is considered the third-most popular team in Mexico, maintaining a fierce rivalry with América in the Clásico Joven as part of the "Big Four" of Mexican football.
