Declan Rice, born on 14 January 1999 in Kingston upon Thames, is an English professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Arsenal and the England national team, widely regarded as one of the world's best midfielders for his versatility, stamina, and tackling. After being released by Chelsea's academy at age 14, he joined West Ham United, where he made his senior debut in 2017, became club captain in 2022, and led the team to a UEFA Europa Conference League title in 2023, earning Player of the Season honors. In July 2023, Rice transferred to Arsenal for a club-record £100 million, making him the joint-most-expensive English player in history, and he helped the club win the Premier League title.
