Blueface (born Johnathan Michael Porter, January 20, 1997) is an American rapper and boxer who first gained viral fame in October 2018 for his offbeat, unconventional rapping style in the music video for "Respect My Cryppin'." That November, he signed with Cash Money West, the California branch of Birdman's Cash Money Records. His 2018 single "Thotiana" became a massive sleeper hit in 2019, peaking at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spawning popular remixes with Cardi B and YG. His debut album, Find the Beat (2020), was met with lukewarm critical and commercial reception. Before his music career, he was a standout high school quarterback at Arleta High School, throwing for over 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2014, and he briefly played college football at Fayetteville State University before leaving in 2016. He began rapping in 2017 under the name Blueface Bleedem, releasing early EPs like Famous Cryp and Two Coccy before his viral breakthrough.
