Michael Keaton (born Michael John Douglas on September 5, 1951, in Pennsylvania) is an acclaimed American actor who first gained fame for his comedic roles in the 1980s, including Night Shift (1982), Mr. Mom (1983), and Beetlejuice (1988), before achieving global stardom as the titular superhero in Tim Burton's Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). After a period of varied roles, he experienced a major career resurgence with his Oscar-nominated performance in Birdman (2014), which earned him his first Golden Globe.
