Portland Timbers 2 (T2) is the reserve squad for the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer (MLS), founded in October 2014 with Jay Vidovich as its first head coach. The team competed in the USL Championship from 2015 to 2019, notably earning the USL Rookie of the Year award for Kharlton Belmar in its debut season, before skipping the 2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In December 2021, T2 joined the inaugural season of MLS Next Pro, the league's new reserve competition. Over the years, the team has played at several venues, including Merlo Field, Hillsboro Stadium, and Providence Park, where they returned in 2023. The club's crest cleverly incorporates the same axe as its parent club, along with design elements from the original 1975 Timbers kits.
