Max Muncy (born August 25, 1990) is an American professional baseball infielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, known for his powerful hitting and defensive versatility. After playing college baseball at Baylor University, he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2012, but he struggled in the majors with them during 2015–2016 and was ultimately released in 2017. He then signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers in April 2017, and in 2018 he had a breakout season, smashing 35 home runs (leading the team) and competing in the Home Run Derby. Muncy has since become a three-time All-Star and a key contributor to the Dodgers' World Series championships in 2020, 2024, and 2025. His remarkable comeback from being released to becoming a cornerstone of a dynasty makes him one of baseball's most compelling success stories.
