Chiu-Tien "Tien-Tien" Yu is an American physicist dedicated to uncovering the nature of dark matter, currently serving as an associate professor of physics at the University of Oregon. Her path began with a high school astrophysics class that sparked a deep fascination with the universe, leading to a B.S. from the University of Chicago (2007) and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison (2013), where she studied the top quark at Fermilab. Following postdoctoral work at Stony Brook University and CERN, she joined the University of Oregon faculty, earning a promotion to associate professor in 2022. Beyond her research on light dark matter, she co-created an innovative interdisciplinary program that merges science and comics with comics studies scholar Kate Kelp-Stebbins. Her contributions have been recognized with the prestigious 2021 New Horizons in Physics Prize, the NSF CAREER Award (2020), and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (2025).
