2023 National League Championship Series

The 2023 National League Championship Series (NLCS) was a best-of-seven playoff series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks, played from October 16 to 24, 2023, to decide the National League pennant. In a historic matchup, it marked the second consecutive year that two wild card teams faced off in the NLCS, with the 84-win Diamondbacks pulling off a major upset against the 90-win Phillies. After the Phillies stormed to a 2-0 series lead—winning Game 1 (5-3) on home runs from Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper, and Game 2 (10-0) behind Aaron Nola's 12 strikeouts—the Diamondbacks mounted a stunning comeback, winning four of the next five games to clinch the series in seven. This made the Phillies just the fourth team in the seven-game series era (since 1985) to lose an LCS after winning the first two games at home. The Diamondbacks' triumph sent them to the 2023 World Series, where they ultimately fell to the Texas Rangers in five games.
