The Uprising is an upcoming action period drama written, produced, and directed by Paul Greengrass, dramatizing the 1381 Peasants' Revolt in England. Starring Andrew Garfield as a plague-surviving ploughman, the film also features Jamie Bell, Cosmo Jarvis, and Woody Norman as King Richard II, and is scheduled for release in the US on September 10, 2026, and in the UK on October 9. Set in the aftermath of the Black Death, the story follows the ploughman who, after a brutal confrontation with a tax collector, sparks a nationwide rebellion alongside the radical priest John Ball and the soldier Wat Tyler. A year later, the ploughman—now dressed in green hooded garb—ambushes the king in Sherwood Forest, revealing the film as a gritty origin story for the legendary Robin Hood figure.
