Enzo Fernández (born 17 January 2001) is an Argentine midfielder who currently plays for Manchester City and the Argentina national team, having risen through the ranks at River Plate before making his first-team debut in 2019. After a standout loan at Defensa y Justicia, where he won the 2020 Copa Sudamericana, he returned to River Plate and later moved to Benfica in 2022. In January 2023, he joined Chelsea for a British-record fee of €121 million (£106.8 million), and in September 2026, he transferred to Manchester City for £125 million—equalling the British record and making him the first player ever to be sold for over £100 million twice. On the international stage, Fernández was a key figure in Argentina's 2022 FIFA World Cup victory, earning the tournament's Young Player Award, and also helped the team win the 2024 Copa América.
