TSG Hoffenheim is a German professional football club based in Sinsheim, with roots tracing back to a gymnastics club founded in 1899 and its modern form emerging from a 1945 merger. The club's meteoric rise began around 2000 when software mogul and alumnus Dietmar Hopp provided substantial financial backing, propelling them from the fifth division to the top-tier Bundesliga by 2008. Under manager Ralf Rangnick, the team achieved notable success, including a DFB-Pokal quarter-final appearance in 2003–04 and a historic third-place Bundesliga finish in 2017–18, which earned them their first-ever UEFA Champions League group stage berth. Since 2009, they have played their home games at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena (now known as PreZero Arena for sponsorship reasons), having previously used the Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion.
