On 30 May 2025, a fatal car crash in Hanoi involving a black BMW X3 killed an 18-year-old girl and injured her father. The driver was later confirmed on 17 August 2026 to be Nguyễn Sỹ Cương, a former deputy of the National Assembly, though state media initially only released his initials, "N.S.C." The victim, Thùy (nicknamed Mina), tragically died on 7 June 2025, just days before her high school graduation exam, after suffering a traumatic leg amputation.
