Liga MX Femenil (officially Liga BBVA Femenil) is Mexico's top professional women's football league, featuring 18 teams that mirror Liga MX clubs and playing an Apertura (July–December) and Clausura (January–May) schedule. The league was announced in December 2016 by Liga MX president Enrique Bonilla, following earlier failed attempts at professionalization, including a 2007 league and a brief allocation of Mexican players to the NWSL from 2013 to 2016, though Club Tijuana had already fielded a professional women's team in 2014. After a warm-up Copa MX Femenil in May 2017, the inaugural Apertura 2017 tournament kicked off on 28 July 2017, with Chivas winning the first championship in November 2017 by defeating Pachuca in front of record crowds of over 28,000 and 32,000 fans. Tigres UANL is the most successful club with seven titles, followed by Monterrey (four), América (three), Guadalajara (two), and Pachuca (one). The current champions are Club América, who beat Monterrey 3–1 on aggregate in the Clausura 2026 final in May 2026.
