Byron Allen (born April 22, 1961) is an American media mogul, comedian, and producer who founded the Allen Media Group (formerly Entertainment Studios) and serves as its chairman and CEO, also holding a stake in BuzzFeed. Starting as a stand-up comedian at age 14, he wrote for Jimmie Walker alongside Jay Leno and David Letterman, and made history in 1979 as the youngest comedian to perform on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson at age 18. He co-hosted NBC's Real People (1979–1984) before founding his production company in 1993, which initially struggled financially, leading to foreclosures and even losing phone service. The company, later renamed Entertainment Studios and then Allen Media Group, pivoted to low-cost non-fiction programming like Entertainers with Byron Allen, and eventually expanded into scripted shows and major acquisitions. In the 2010s, he acquired The Weather Channel, TheGrio, and Freestyle Releasing, and today he hosts and produces Comics Unleashed and Funny You Should Ask.
