The 2025 LSU Tigers football team, representing the Southeastern Conference (SEC), started the season strong, ranking No. 9 in the preseason AP Poll and securing a hard-fought 17–10 road victory over No. 4 Clemson. However, the momentum dissipated by midseason as an inconsistent offense struggled with the run game and passing turnovers, leading to the benching of quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. This collapse resulted in the firing of fourth-year head coach Brian Kelly on October 26 after a home loss to Texas A&M, with associate head coach Frank Wilson stepping in as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. The Tigers never righted the ship, finishing the year with a Texas Bowl loss to Houston. Despite the disappointing on-field results, the team still drew an impressive average home attendance of 101,575 per game, ranking as the 7th-highest among all American football teams worldwide.
