The 1993 Major League Baseball postseason, held from October 5 to October 23, was the final edition of the playoffs to feature just two rounds, with only division champions qualifying (a format that expanded after the 1994–95 strike). In the American League, the Toronto Blue Jays faced the Chicago White Sox (their first postseason since 1983), while the National League pitted the Philadelphia Phillies (also first since 1983) against the two-time defending champion Atlanta Braves—a matchup that marked the last time until 2008 that the New York Yankees missed the playoffs. Toronto defeated Chicago 4–2 in the ALCS, highlighted by Dave Stewart's strong pitching and Bo Jackson's final MLB postseason appearance, while the Phillies upset the Braves 4–2 in the NLCS. The Blue Jays then won the World Series over Philadelphia in six games, becoming just the seventh franchise in MLB history to win back-to-back championships. This victory also made Toronto the last Canadian team to win a major-league conference title until 2019, and the Blue Jays wouldn't return to the postseason again until 2015.
