Labor Day is a 2013 American drama film directed by Jason Reitman, adapted from Joyce Maynard's 2009 novel, and starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin. The story follows Adele, a depressed single mother, and her son Henry, who are forced to shelter Frank, an escaped convict, over the Labor Day weekend. Despite his criminal past, Frank helps fix up their home and teaches them to bake, leading to a deep romantic bond and a plan to escape to Canada. Their plans are thwarted when police close in, and Frank surrenders to protect them, while Adele later loses custody of Henry. Years later, Henry becomes a successful baker, and Frank writes to him from prison, inquiring about Adele, hinting at a possible reunion.
