The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, Apple's eighteenth-generation smartphones, were announced on September 9, 2024, and released on September 20, 2024. They feature an aluminum design with a color-infused glass back, come in five colors (Ultramarine, Teal, Pink, White, and Black), and adopt a vertical camera layout that enables spatial video capture. Powered by the new A18 chip with a Neural Engine twice as fast as its predecessor, the devices are optimized for generative AI and boast improved thermal design for up to 30% higher sustained gaming performance. The camera system includes a 48-megapixel Fusion main lens and a new autofocus ultrawide lens, while the hardware adds the Action button (from the 15 Pro) and a new Camera Control button that distinguishes between light and hard presses. Retaining 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR displays with a 60Hz refresh rate, the phones also support Wi-Fi 7 and notably omit Apple stickers from the box for environmental reasons.
