Jeffrey "Mr. Marlin" Conine was a 17-season MLB veteran who became the face of the Florida Marlins franchise, winning World Series titles with the team in 1997 and 2003. After being drafted in the 58th round by the Kansas City Royals in 1987, he was selected by the Marlins in the 1992 expansion draft and immediately became a star, earning the 1995 All-Star Game MVP for a go-ahead pinch-hit home run. A victim of the Marlins' post-1997 fire sale, he bounced between the Royals and Orioles before being traded back to Miami in 2003 to help secure a second championship. He finished his career as a journeyman outfielder, retiring with a one-day contract as a Marlin in 2008, and was inducted into the Marlins Legends Hall of Fame in 2025.
