Sean Patrick Gilmartin (born May 8, 1990) is a former American professional baseball pitcher who played in MLB for the New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, and Tampa Bay Rays. A standout at Florida State University, he was named an All-American and was drafted 28th overall by the Atlanta Braves in 2011, after initially declining a 2008 selection by the Padres to attend college. His path to the majors included a trade to the Minnesota Twins in December 2013 and a Rule 5 draft pick by the Mets in December 2014, leading to his MLB debut on April 10, 2015. He earned his first win on June 14, 2015, and famously recorded his first major league hit—a bloop single in the 16th inning—in his first at-bat against the Cardinals on July 19, 2015. He made his first major league start on October 1, 2015, but was left off the Mets' playoff roster, and later finished his career with the Orioles and Rays.
