SpaceX Starbase is the industrial complex and rocket launch facility in Texas that serves as the main production and testing site for SpaceX's Starship launch vehicles, as well as the company's headquarters. Originally selected in August 2014 to support Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launches, the site pivoted exclusively to the next-generation Starship in 2018, with construction ramping up significantly and the first prototype, Starhopper, flying in 2019. By late 2023, the facility employed over 2,100 people and hosted the first orbital flight test of Starship, making it SpaceX's fourth orbital-class launch site. In a notable civic development, voters approved incorporating the area as the new city of Starbase, Texas on May 3, 2025, making it the first new city in Cameron County since 1995, following a petition filed in December 2024.
