Patrick Mahomes Sr., born on August 9, 1970, was a professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1992 to 2003 for the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates, also spending two seasons in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball with the Yokohama BayStars. Drafted by the Twins in the sixth round of the 1988 MLB draft, he made his debut in 1992 and spent five seasons with them before bouncing between teams. His most memorable MLB season came in 1999 with the Mets, where he went a perfect 8-0 in relief and helped the team reach the NLCS. After his MLB career ended, he played his final professional game in 2009 for the independent Grand Prairie AirHogs. Known for his intense competitive nature as a high school multi-sport star in football and basketball, he was also an academic standout, graduating with the second-highest GPA in his class.
