Ji-hwan Bae (born July 26, 1999) is a South Korean professional baseball player currently in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, having previously played in MLB for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Brewers. A standout high school hitter who won the Lee Young-min Batting Award and was projected as a first-round KBO pick, he signed with the Atlanta Braves in 2017, but MLB voided the contract due to fraudulent negotiations involving under-the-table payments. He then signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2018 for a $1.25 million bonus, and after missing the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he made his MLB debut on September 23, 2022. In 2023, he hit his first major league home run and finished with a .231 average, 32 RBIs, and 24 stolen bases, but his performance declined in 2024 and 2025, leading to a poor start in 2025. After being placed on waivers by the Pirates in November 2025, he was claimed by the New York Mets and later joined the Brewers organization. Despite early promise, Bae's major league career has been marked by inconsistency, though he remains a versatile infielder/outfielder with notable speed.
