Jannik Sinner (born 16 August 2001) is an Italian professional tennis player who made history as the first Italian to reach world No. 1, achieving the year-end top spot in 2024. A former top junior skier from South Tyrol, he gave up skiing at age 13 to focus on tennis, moving to train at the Piatti Tennis Center. His breakthrough came at the 2024 Australian Open, where he defeated Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev to win his first major, later adding the US Open and ATP Finals that same year. In 2025, he reached the finals of all four majors, winning the Australian Open and Wimbledon while losing to Carlos Alcaraz in five-set epics at the French Open and US Open. In 2026, he defended his Wimbledon title, won a record five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles, and became the youngest player to complete the Career Golden Masters at just 24 years old.
