Emmitt Smith (born May 15, 1969) is a legendary former NFL running back, widely considered one of the greatest of all time, and holds the league's all-time rushing record with 18,355 yards and 164 rushing touchdowns. After a standout high school career in Pensacola, Florida, where he became the nation's second-leading rusher, Smith played college football at the University of Florida before being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft. He achieved a historic feat in 1993, becoming the only running back to win the Super Bowl, NFL MVP award, rushing crown, and Super Bowl MVP all in the same season. As part of "The Triplets" alongside Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin, he led the Cowboys to three Super Bowl victories in the 1990s, uniquely leading the league in rushing and winning the championship in the same year three times. Smith also ranks among the NFL's most durable scorers, being one of only two non-kickers to surpass 1,000 career points, alongside Jerry Rice. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
