Charles Marion Edwards (born September 13, 1960) is an American Republican politician who has represented North Carolina's 11th congressional district in the U.S. House since 2023, after serving in the state Senate from 2016 to 2023. He rose to prominence in 2022 by defeating scandal-plagued incumbent Madison Cawthorn in the Republican primary, carrying the most populous county, Buncombe, to secure the nomination. A longtime McDonald's franchise operator, Edwards made headlines in 2024 by presenting Donald Trump with a self-created "French Fry Certification Pin" (an honorary award, not an official McDonald's certification). In 2026, the House Ethics Committee investigated him over sexual harassment allegations, releasing a report on August 3 that concluded he fostered a hostile work environment and recommended censure. Although he initially denied the misconduct, Edwards announced on August 5, 2026, that he would drop his re-election bid, effectively ending his congressional career.
