Eva Lys (born 12 January 2002 in Kyiv) is a German professional tennis player who has climbed to a career-high singles ranking of world No. 39 (as of January 2026), making her Germany's current No. 3 singles player. The daughter of a former Ukraine Davis Cup player, she moved to Germany at age two and competes on the tour despite living with the rheumatic autoimmune disease spondylarthritis, while also speaking out against Russian players' behavior following the invasion of Ukraine. After making her WTA singles debut in 2022, Lys recorded her first major win at the 2023 US Open and reached three WTA Tour semifinals across 2023-24, peaking at No. 105 in the rankings. Her breakthrough came at the 2025 Australian Open, where she entered as a lucky loser and made history as the first lucky loser to reach the women's singles fourth round—defeating three opponents before losing to world No. 1 Iga Świątek. She followed that up at the Dubai Championships by securing her first WTA 1000 victory against Irina-Camelia Begu before falling to the defending champion and fourth seed, cementing her rapid ascent to the top of the sport.
