Érik Lira (born 8 May 2000) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Ligue 1 club AS Monaco and the Mexico national team. After starting in Pumas UNAM's youth academy and making his professional debut with Necaxa in 2018, he returned to Pumas for his Liga MX debut in 2020. He joined Cruz Azul in 2022, where he won the Supercopa de la Liga MX (2022), the CONCACAF Champions Cup (2025), and captained the club to the Clausura 2026 title and the Campeón de Campeones. On the international stage, Lira debuted for the senior national team in 2021, won a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games, and lifted the CONCACAF Gold Cup (2025) and Nations League (2024-25) with Mexico. He was named to Mexico's 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted on home soil, and has earned multiple Liga MX All-Star selections and Best XI honors.
