Maya Joint (born 16 April 2006) is an Australian professional tennis player who has surged to career-high rankings of world No. 28 in singles and No. 33 in doubles, both achieved on 16 February 2026, along with four WTA Tour titles. Born in Michigan to an Australian father and German mother, she was a dual citizen who officially switched to represent Australia in mid-2023, relocating to Brisbane for elite training. Her path to professionalism was marked by a controversial moment in August 2024, when she forfeited $140,000 in US Open prize money to maintain NCAA eligibility for the Texas Longhorns—a ruling famously criticized by Andy Roddick as "absurd"—before she turned pro in December 2024. She made her Grand Slam singles debut at the 2024 US Open, qualifying and defeating Laura Siegemund for her first major win, and earlier that year became the youngest Australian ever to win a W75 title. In 2025, she broke into the top 40 by winning two WTA singles titles, and she now represents Australia in the Billie Jean King Cup.
