Jane Fonda (born December 21, 1937) is an American actress and activist, celebrated for a career spanning over seven decades and earning her two Academy Awards, eight Golden Globes, and a Primetime Emmy. The daughter of actor Henry Fonda, she rose to fame in the 1960s with films like Cat Ballou and Barbarella, before winning Best Actress Oscars for Klute (1971) and Coming Home (1978). In 1982, she revolutionized fitness with Jane Fonda's Workout, which became the best-selling VHS of all time, leading to 22 videos that sold over 17 million copies. After marrying media mogul Ted Turner in 1991, she retired from acting, but returned in 2005 with Monster-in-Law and later starred in the Netflix series Grace and Frankie from 2015 to 2022. As a lifelong activist, Fonda protested the Vietnam War—earning the nickname "Hanoi Jane"—and co-founded the Women's Media Center in 2005, advocating for feminism and environmental causes.
