Trevor Story (born November 15, 1992) is an American professional baseball infielder who currently plays for the Boston Red Sox, having spent his first six MLB seasons with the Colorado Rockies. Drafted by the Rockies in the first round (45th overall) of the 2011 MLB draft, he made a spectacular major league debut in 2016, setting an MLB rookie record by hitting a home run in each of his first four games and earning the National League's Rookie of the Month award for April. Story quickly established himself as a star, leading the NL in strikeouts in 2017 and in power-speed number, extra base hits, and longest home run in 2018, while earning All-Star and Silver Slugger honors in both 2018 and 2019. After six seasons in Colorado, he entered free agency and signed a six-year contract with the Red Sox. Before his professional career, he was a standout high school athlete who played quarterback in football before focusing solely on baseball, and he was a highly touted prospect who played multiple infield positions before settling at shortstop.
