Iga Świątek (born 31 May 2001 in Warsaw) is a Polish professional tennis player who has held the world No. 1 ranking for 125 weeks and is currently ranked No. 5. She is the first Pole to win a major singles title, having claimed six Grand Slams: four French Opens (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024), the 2022 US Open, and the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. Her rise to dominance came in 2022 with a 37-match winning streak—the longest on the WTA Tour in the 21st century—which propelled her to world No. 1, and she finished as year-end No. 1 in both 2022 and 2023, also winning the 2023 WTA Finals. In 2025, she won her first grass-court title at Wimbledon but was later suspended for one month after testing positive for a drug found in contaminated sleep medication. A junior champion at the 2018 Wimbledon girls' singles, she is known for her all-court playing style and has earned accolades like the L'Équipe Champion of Champions and a spot on Time's 100 most influential people list in 2023.
