John Robert Schreiber (born March 5, 1994, in Wyandotte, Michigan) is a right-handed relief pitcher currently with the New York Yankees, having previously played for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and Kansas City Royals. Drafted by the Tigers in the 15th round of the 2016 MLB draft for a mere $6,000 bonus, he made his major league debut on August 9, 2019, and later became the first alumnus of the Kalamazoo Growlers to reach the big leagues. After being designated for assignment multiple times, he was claimed by the Boston Red Sox in 2021, where he earned his first career save against the Atlanta Braves on May 10, 2022. He later pitched for the Royals from 2024 to 2026 before joining the Yankees. Overall, he has posted a 16–15 record with a 3.67 ERA and 308 strikeouts, demonstrating remarkable persistence through numerous roster moves and minor league assignments.
