Sergio Gor, born Sergei Gorokhovsky in Tashkent in 1986 and raised in Malta before becoming a U.S. citizen in 2004, is a prominent political operative currently serving as the U.S. Ambassador to India (since 2026) and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian affairs (since August 2025). After graduating from George Washington University, he worked on John McCain's 2008 campaign, served as a spokesman for several Republican congressmen, and later became a top aide to Senator Rand Paul. In 2020, he shifted to the Trump orbit, becoming chief of staff for the Trump Victory Finance Committee and a consultant for Donald Trump Jr., with whom he co-founded the conservative publishing house Winning Team Publishing in 2021. He played a key role in Trump's political machine as a senior advisor to MAGA Inc. and leader of the Right for America PAC, leading to his appointment as Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office in November 2024. In August 2025, Trump nominated him as ambassador to India, and the Senate confirmed him in October 2025, capping a rapid rise from immigrant to high-ranking diplomat.
