Mats Hummels (born 16 December 1988) was a German professional footballer widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs of his generation, celebrated for his exceptional tackling, anticipation, and goal-scoring ability. He rose through Bayern Munich's youth academy before making his mark at Borussia Dortmund, initially on loan in 2008 and permanently for €4 million in 2009, where he won two Bundesliga titles and the DFB-Pokal, and reached the 2013 UEFA Champions League final.
