Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle

Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle is a 2020 Japanese anime film and the 23rd entry in the franchise, notable for returning to traditional 2D animation and featuring the Mythical Pokémon Zarude and a Shiny Celebi. The plot follows a feral child named Koko, raised by a Zarude in the Forest of Okoya, who meets Ash Ketchum and Pikachu and learns about his human origins. The story's antagonist, Dr. Zed of the Biotope Company, is revealed to have murdered Koko's real parents (Chrom and Phossa Molybdenum) to steal the healing spring water from the Great Tree, leading to a climactic confrontation. Originally slated for July 10, 2020, the film was delayed to December 25, 2020, in Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it later premiered worldwide on Netflix on October 8, 2021. As a promotional tie-in, players of Pokémon Sword and Shield who preordered tickets received a special "Dada" form of Zarude and a Shiny Celebi.
