Atlético Bucaramanga is a Colombian professional football club based in Bucaramanga, founded on 11 May 1949 by businessman Rafael Chaberman, and plays its home games at the Américo Montanini stadium. The club's greatest achievement came in 2024, when it won its first Categoría Primera A title in the Apertura tournament, having previously reached the league final in 1997 (losing to América de Cali) and advancing to the second round of the Copa Libertadores. In its early years, the club joined the top flight in 1949, losing its first match 5–1 to Deportivo Cali, but finished tenth in its debut season. During the El Dorado period, the club aggressively signed foreign stars, including the Argentine "Four Musketeers" and Costa Rican forward José Joaquín "El Quincho" Quiroz, leading to a sixth-place finish in 1950, but overspending caused a collapse, finishing last in 1953 and dropping out of the league in 1954. Since returning to the top division in 2016, the club has been a regular participant, and its 2024 title marked a historic breakthrough for the team.
