Matthew John Armstrong (born August 28, 1973) is an American actor best known for his roles as Ted Sprague in Heroes (2006–2007), as well as appearances in Turks (1999) and The Profile (2010). Before his acting career, he was a standout football player at Naperville Central High School in Illinois, earning two-time Defensive Player of the Year honors in the DuPage Valley Conference and a spot on the 1990 Tribune All-State team. His diverse television work includes a recurring role on American Dreams (2002–2005), a guest spot as an AIDS patient on House (2005), a phoenix on Supernatural (2011), and a part in the second season of American Horror Story (2012). Armstrong is famously often mistaken for one of the GEICO cavemen due to his hairstyle and facial hair, a misconception he publicly addressed in Entertainment Weekly, stating, "For the record, I am not the GEICO caveman." In his personal life, he is married to actress Ashley Crow, and together they have a son, professional baseball player Pete Crow-Armstrong.
