The 2024 Texas Longhorns football team, led by head coach Steve Sarkisian, made history by competing in their first season as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team soared to the No. 1 ranking in the AP Poll on September 15, marking their first time atop the national rankings since 2008. They enjoyed a stellar season, reaching the SEC Championship Game and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff, where they defeated Clemson and Arizona State before falling to Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl semifinal. The Longhorns also set a program record when twelve of their players were selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Playing at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium, they drew massive crowds, including an attendance of 102,850 for their game against Louisiana–Monroe, one of the largest in stadium history.
