The Wisconsin Badgers women's volleyball team, representing the University of Wisconsin–Madison in NCAA Division I, has a rich tradition dating back to 1974 and has reached the Elite Eight a remarkable 16 times. The program captured its first national championship in 2021, a season in which it also ranked second nationally in attendance, averaging 7,540 fans per match. Under early coach John Cook, the team posted standout records in the late 1990s, while coach Pete Waite led the Badgers to the 2000 national final, where they fell to Nebraska. The modern era began with coach Kelly Sheffield in 2013, who immediately orchestrated a "Cinderella" run to the championship match as the lowest-seeded team ever to advance that far. Sheffield ultimately delivered the elusive 2021 title, cementing the program's status as a national powerhouse with consistent deep tournament runs.
