Deportivo Miranda F.C., originally founded in 1948 as Deportivo Italia by Italian immigrants in Caracas, has undergone several name changes—including Deportivo Italchacao after a 1998 merger and later Petare—but remains a historic powerhouse. The club has won the Primera División Venezolana five times and the Copa de Venezuela three times.

Its golden era began in 1958 under the leadership of Mino D'Ambrosio, lasting until 1978, during which the team—nicknamed "Los Azules" for its Italy-inspired blue shirts—captured four national titles (1961, 1963, 1966, 1972) and achieved the famous "Little Maracanazo" in 1971. A landmark moment came in 1964 when the club became the first Venezuelan team to compete in the Copa Libertadores, advancing to the second round and paving the way for future national participation. The club also impressed internationally by defeating Italian giants AC Milan in a 1968 friendly. Today, the club continues its legacy as Deportivo Miranda F.C., representing the capital city while carrying forward a rich history of immigrant roots and pioneering achievements in Venezuelan football.
