Derek Law (born September 14, 1990, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American professional baseball pitcher currently in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, having previously pitched for the San Francisco Giants, Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, and Washington Nationals. After being drafted by the Texas Rangers but not signing, he was selected by the Giants in the ninth round of the 2011 draft, and he underwent Tommy John surgery in June 2014. He made his MLB debut with the Giants on April 15, 2016, and enjoyed a standout rookie season, posting a 2.13 ERA over 61 games while earning his first career win and save. Law was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in April 2019 in exchange for Kevin Pillar, but was later non-tendered, leading to brief stints with the Rangers and Twins before joining his current organization. Known for his impressive minor league numbers—such as a 2.31 ERA with 102 strikeouts in 2013—Law has persevered through injuries and team changes to remain a professional pitcher.
