Sports Illustrated Stadium (formerly Red Bull Arena) is a 25,000-seat soccer-specific venue in Harrison, New Jersey, serving as home to the New York Red Bulls (MLS) and Gotham FC (NWSL). Opened in 2010, the stadium features a transparent partial roof and sits on the Passaic River waterfront, about 7 miles from Lower Manhattan, making it the sixth-largest soccer-specific stadium in the U.S. On December 11, 2024, it was renamed under a 13-year naming-rights deal with Sports Illustrated Tickets. The site was chosen for its transit links and deep soccer heritage—the surrounding area is known as the "Cradle of American Soccer," having hosted the first international match in the U.S. in 1885. Planning began in 2000 under MetroStars executive Nick Sakiewicz, but construction faced delays from environmental cleanup and Red Bull's buyout of the team and AEG's stadium share, pushing the opening from 2007 to 2010. The stadium's main entrance street, Pete Higgins Boulevard, honors the Harrison Redevelopment Agency chairman credited with making the project a reality.
